How does each brand of lemon oil feels when diffused in the eye.
After being in my aroma dome with all these lemon oils, I found out that the micron size of the diffused oil makes the biggest difference on how it irritates my eyes, especially on full blast. With some of the cheaper diffusers that put out a higher cluster size of oil, I felt I had to blink less when in the Aroma Dome. This is based on using the same oil in a low micron diffuser.
So, with different oils, some have more limonene and other oils have more terpenes. The oils that smelled the least like authentic lemon rind tended to irritate my eyes less. I did have a bottle of old lemon oil that has been oxidized. It didn't irritate my eyes hardly at all. The first thing that I found that makes the vapor coming out of the diffuser more potent is the vapor density. If the diffuser is pushing more oil at and the cluster size is more absorbable as its half the size, I can feel the oils much more. If the limonene in the oil is so heavy it's less noticeable when the diffusers are turned up to the same level.
The brands of oil that stung my eye the most out of all the oils I tested like this was the oil that had the most rind smell but was not so strong. I strongly believe some companies are doing some kind of engineering to boost limonene levels. I'm not sure what they are doing but whenver I get a strong smelling lemon oil that also has other fragrance notes to it, I always know something is up.
If someone is looking for an oil with a stronger constituent level or if wanting a certain type of smell (lemon rind or lemon candy or super strong lemon smell but not 100% of the rind smell, let me know this on my quiz). I will help you pick out just the right lemon oil based on the answers you choose on the quiz. Take the lemon quiz here.
