Some lemon oils have a very sugary smell and some brands have a very sharp, lemon rind smell. I want to see if the oils that don't smell as sharp have more constituents. Some lemon oils have a very sour taste when one drop of oil is mixed with a cup of water while the best selling lemon oil has a much sweeter taste. Another thing, different lemon oils from different manufacturers have different viscosities. So when putting the oil in a diffuser, some oils are able to be broken down to a lower micron size and have a higher "room fill" and travel further. The heavier oils seem to have more "fluence" and settle to the ground quicker.
The tough part of getting a good lemon oil is finding the most potent oil but that still smells authentic. There are so many brands that smell "lemon-like" and super strong but just doesn't have that real lemon rind smell. There are 3 lemon oils I have found that seem to be the ones that everyone wants. The first one smells just like lemon rind, I mean like if you took lemon rinds and but it in a Vitamix blender and took the lid off and it smell like lemon rind. The other semlls like lemon drop candy. 50% of the people like this smell. It smells super strong and has more of a candy smell. The 3rd one has a more faint smell but smells the most like a fresh lemon but it is not nearly as strong but it the oil that eats the styrofoam up and pops balloons the quickest every time. Nearly all the other brands all seem to have an off smell. You kinda got to smell them yourself to know what I mean (For those doing a review I provide these oils free of charge).
So, the main thing I want to see is if the more faint oils or the sweeter smelling or sharper have a higher or lower level of constituents. They say that you can't go by just the smell or even if one smells have as strong. So, I put the oils through different tests to see if their claims are valid. So, if some lemon essential oils are much thicker, I want to know if they will waste more oil in a nebulizing diffuser or last longer. I also am going to find out which oils when you diffuse them make a big yellow mess on the counter. I take a tissue and it turns yellow while the oils that are so thin that diffuse right through a tissue have no residue. Another thing is I am going to find out what the brix level of these lemons they are picking and see if that has anything to do with it. I do notice that when the oils are infused with the zpe stickers the frangrance notes in the lemon is about 10 times more intense and the potency is concentrated. The oil when resting on a sticker only lasts about four days. I always keep the stickers under my oils. It only takes about 30 seconds to infuse a bottle before using it. These infused stickers are a game changer if you have a lemon oil that smells "lemon like". It really brings out the essense of the oil. But for oils that smell like lemon rind, it is hard to tell if the smell is from a the lemon essential oil or an actual lemon rind.
