Which lemon essential oils have more constituents?
People either want a lemon oil with that has a high limonene constituent count that has a rindy smell while others want a more "lemon candy" smell that has a sweeter smell than just the rind smell. I have put the most "lemon rind" smelling oil to the sweet candy smelling oils and have came up with my conclusion. Depending on someones body ecology like if they are acidic and crave junk food and have a low pH, they usually crave that candy smell.

Most of the time I don't have to guess which oil has the most constituents. The manufacturer's have the HPLC report if asked for. An oil might have a higher count of d-limonene but a lower count of terpinols or citrals depending on how the lemon oil was extracted and how much heat or pressure was used.

Many companies mainly focus on boosting the oil's D-Limonene content in their extraction process. Some of the lemon oils have a week lemon smell but a very authentic smell. And some smell very strong like 5x the normal strength of lemon but it smells "lemon-like" and not like 100% lemon. The oils that smell the most like lemon rind seem to pop the balloons and eat up the styrofoam the quickest while the ones that smell a little "off" do it much slower.

Normally, I avoid oils from lemons grown in mass manufacturing farms like mexico, Florida, and California where the soil is loaded with pesticides and is mineral deficient. These minerals are what is going to to yield those higher constituent levels later on. This doesn’t really matter if the intended usage is the limonene for its solvent and preservative action or for janitorial supplies. Just not what I would want to use for therapeutic reasons. I would rather have a very faint lemon smell rather than very potent with a low constituent count.
See my Styrofoam cup page to see how different brands of oils break down the cup differently.
See my Balloon pop test.

Lemons grown without sunlight and poor soil can still have a great lemon smell but the constituents can be bunk. Some of these lemon oils won't even pop a balloon or eat up a styrofoam cup. Just tricking people breeding these lemons to give off a strong lemon smell.
